While the rest of much of the country is freezing off its posterior, you can be in the great Southern California beach city of San Clemente. Typical daytime temperature in December is expected to be close to 70 degrees. It is adjacent to San Clemente State Park. A short walk through the park leads to a five-mile stretch of beautiful Southern California beach.
The large one-bedroom unit sleeps up to six, with a queen size bed in the bedroom, sofa sleeper (separated by privacy curtain) and Murphy beds in the living area.
San Clemente is between Los Angeles and San Diego, about 60 miles from each. Cleveland National Forest is a half-hour away, and San Bernardino National Forest is 90 minutes away. Within a 65-mile radius you'll find Disneyland, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Knott's Berry Farm, and the San Juan Capistrano Mission. Mexico is only 75 miles away. Restaurants, specialty shops, and art galleries are plentiful in the area.
Standard rate for the unit is $185 per night. You can vacation at 1/4 the price.
